Savenay, a small township of 7,300 inhabitants, welcomes you for your holiday. This small town with a fascinating, historical past, juts out over the Loire marshland and promises some lovely walks. Half way between Nantes and St Nazaire, opt for the peace and quiet of Savenay. Set off to discover the lake and visit the mill, the church or even, on a Wednesday morning, the indoor market of this charming little town.
Nantes is both an historic and a modern town offering you a range of cultural activities. Come and wander at the foot of the half-timbered houses in the Bouffay district. Discover the Machines de l’Ile or come and quench your thirst at the famous Hangar a Bananes (Banana warehouse) in a friendly and festive atmosphere. You can also visit the Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne or the Japanese Garden on the Ile de Versailles.
The Briere nature park awaits you for an unforgettable visit. Discover the canals aboard a barge and relax in the peace and quiet of the natural surroundings. Admire the diversity of the flora and fauna and observe the migratory birds.
Come and visit the wonders of Guerande. This medieval city gives you an opportunity to discover its monuments, testamants to French history. Admire the town’s fortifications, la porte Saint-Michel, or the Chapelle-Notre-Dame –La Blanche. Numerous activities are equally on offer : walks, horse riding, golf, bowling tennis….
This area, classed as a world heritage site, is a visit in our region not to be missed. Come and discover the saltworks and sea salt production. To gain a better understanding of the Marais Salants, Terre de sel organise many themed visits on the site. Presentation of the trade, evening walks in the salt marshes, exploration of the flora and fauna in the area, discoveries of both the senses and gastronomical : there is something for everyone !
During your stay, be tempted by the call of the ocean. Saint Nazaire, the town of twenty beaches, offers you a visit around its port, its naval dockyards and its submarine base. Loaded with history, this port town gives you the chance to discover life on a transatlantic liner thanks to l’Escal’Atlantic or the town’s heritage through the Ecomusee. The Escales music festival invites you to discover talent from around the world at the start of August.
Leaving the campsite, it is possible very quickly join the motorway easily taking you to Nantes and St Nazaire. Nantes is 30km from the campsite and St Nazaire is 25 km away. Consider the TER (regional train) which in just 20 minutes gets you right into the centre of Nantes (parking is free in Savenay station).
